So the Mueller Report “Obliterates” the Conspiracy?

With regard to Facebook ads and Twitter posts from the Russia-based Internet Research Agency, for example, Mueller could not have been more blunt: “The investigation did not identify evidence that any U.S. persons knowingly or intentionally coordinated with the IRA’s interference operation” (emphasis added). Note that this exoneration includes not only Trump campaign officials but all Americans:

Greenwald, Glenn. 2019. “Robert Mueller Did Not Merely Reject the Trump/Russia Conspiracy Theories. He Obliterated Them.” The Intercept. April 18, 2019. https://theintercept.com/2019/04/18/robert-mueller-did-not-merely-reject-the-trumprussia-conspiracy-theories-he-obliterated-them/.

I can understand Russia doing all it could to damage Hillary Clinton. From my distant perspective looking across at the 2016 campaign I found myself worrying that a Clinton presidency might even risk a war with Russia over Crimea and the Ukraine. I was certainly attracted at that time to Trump’s talk of getting along with other powers. Of course, I had a lot to learn. I knew nothing about Trump before 2016.

  1. Good interview proudfootz.

BTW, collusion????? What is that all about?? Don’t you know the 24/7 coverage is all about Trump et. al have been obstructing justice. That and the report about it by a special prosecutor who was supposed to investigate (who at one time lied about WMD in Iraq) is redacted and butchered by the Trumpian Attorney General.

Get with the program !!!! If you are not parroting the narrative “du jour” of the up-the-yazoo vested interested corporate media, what kind of Amerikan are you, anyway?????

  2. What annoyed me about that whole ordeal is that Glenn Greenwald was endorsing the Wikileaks publications of Democratic e-mails, yet it was obvious to me at that point that Wikileaks was being weaponized as a political tool, it wasn’t serving as some impartial exposer of secrets. And to me that’s the whole problem with Wikileaks. It’s good in theory and I support what was done with the Iraq War documents, but it’s too easy to manipulate and to become a puppet of bad actors, and I think that’s exactly what happened in 2016.

But yeah, Trump was more of a pawn than a co-conspirator. Basically what Muller found was that Trump was just a bumbling fool incapable of successfully colluding with Russia, despite some failed attempts, and was otherwise just a naive benefactor of Russian efforts.

  3. Read on down to the quote anout Manafort. Manafort was constantly sharing poling data with the Russians, but Mueller didn’t feel he could prove coordination. I mean, Manafort was giving Deripaska polling data, how could he know what he was going to do with it amIrite?
