Posting two links that coincidentally attracted a similar header despite being experiences of two very different people from different parts of the world (Australia, USA) in contact with two quite different facets (university students, ultra-orthodox) of the one country (Israel). Posting the links in the interest of providing one more avenue for letting the other side of the story get an airing among western audiences.

For a contrast see this article on Jewish values http://mondoweiss.net/2009/07/tema-okun.html .
I must say that I do have Jewish freinds who work with me on solidarity with Palestine. Of course in finality it’s human values that matter and it doesn’t matter what religion a person has or what ethnicity they feel they belong to.
What a refreshing article! Thanks for posting it. (I would only comment that the values expressed are not so much “Jewish” as simply “human” — or ought to be.)
