The new work now in English is Philo, Strauss and Renan and Christian Origins
Paul Cheffers made it possible to update Bauer’s Philo citations to their modern references. (Bauer was relying on a 1691 text). Paul’s page: https://www.securecottage.com/BauerProto/

Neil,
It’s good to see another post from you. While I never ever comment, I do lurk here at Vridar lol. I was honestly worried about your well being. Anyhow, it’s good to see that you’re still producing quality post. Have a good one, bro.
Thank you, Jason.
It has not been the best year for me, having had a few health challenges to get through. But expect to come out on top before much longer.
This is important news for scholars of History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Criticism, and English readers of German literature.
Bruno Bauer will one day be recognized as more than the scholar who preserved the lectures of GWF Hegel on the philosophy of religion. He was a genius in his own right, who helped to establish the Markan Hypothesis, and to advance Historical Criticism of the New Testament to its 20th century heights.
Paul Cheffers deserves many congratulations.
Thank you for your great work. Out of curiosity I checked the machine scanned transcript and raw translation of the original. I picked randomly the second chapter (Strauß und sein neuer Glaube, https://www.securecottage.com/BauerProto/chapter2/BauerChap2p17.txt) and I was surprised how poorly the machine rendered the fractura text. All the more remarkable, and surely laborious feat by you to construct a readable English text. By the way, I spotted immediately an error, or typo, in the first sentence of this chapter (https://vridar.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Philo-Strauss-and-Renan-and-Christian-Origins.pdf, p. 16): the name of our good doctor from Lyon is Guyot, not Gungot.
Thank you for notifying us of the Gungot/Guyot error. Fixed now.
No doubt there are others I have missed. Always appreciate corrections.
