add your nameHi all,

I’ve just signed this petition from the Jewish Council and I thought you might like to do the same.

In the aftermath of the Bondi massacre, there are a lot of right-wing voices trying to stoke division and racism. The Jewish Council has a six point plan to tackle antisemitism and all forms of racial violence and they’re sending it to the Prime Minister as a petition.

I added my name because I wanted to help. It’s only by coming together that we can truly keep our communities safe from antisemitic and racial violence. I thought you might want to sign it too: https://jewishcouncil.good.do/unity

  1. Signed!

Not sure if we can win this one. (that is not to say I haven’t exhausted my gmail sending limit trying!)
The government will initiate a Royal Commission that will be headed by a pro-Israel Zionist. Somehow I do not think Sarah Schwartz will be allowed to testify!

It is probably now the end of peaceful street activism, but it is not the end of the movement. Already we are adapting to the new normal.
We are looking at doing plays and film nights.

If police are now given permission to aggressively stop protests, then we can expect violence which will feed the mainstream media narrative.

    Time for us to adapt!

    1. I was trying to think of the best response — and after some time wondered if carrying a sign clearly stating opposition to both antisemitism and genocide would be the best option. Was thinking of passing the idea along when lo and behold what do I see ….

  2. You’ve signed a petition against Anti-Semitism because Anti-Semitism is what the Left is doing. Not the Right.

If there’s any division being caused in this issue, it’s on the Left. You yourself demonstrate that by signing this petition in solidarity the Right.

So, let’s do keep things straight: It’s the Left that’s Anti-Semitic, not the Right. Showing unity with the Right on this issue tells you where the division is.

    1. There is a video online of an elderly woman who professes Jewish identity (and whose parents were killed in the holocaus) and who also sympathized with the plight of the Palestinians and opposed genocide — seeking to express her solidarity and condolences to the Jewish community who were targeted by the ISIS terrorists — being yelled at and abused and chased away by that Jewish community. One might say we saw a Jew on “the left” reaching out for solidarity and deepest sympathy but being railed against and kicked out.

Palestinians and Palestinian supporters who reach out are rebuffed for the actions of a terrorist group who also hates Hamas.

    2. right? left?

We are in solidarity with anyone who believes in universal human rights.
It is a very simple concept, so simple that even people on the ‘right’ are starting to understand it also:

      Genocide bad.
People who defend genocide – bad.
People who silence people who say genocide is bad, are bad.

    3. I’m trying to understand what point you are making. Anti-semitism has never been restricted to left or right or centre; it’s a thing that crosses boundaries and indeed is often not even related to politics but to religion (insofar as the two can be separated).

I feel like you’re trying to claim some high ground but I can’t work out where or what hill you are raising your flag on.
